Gurpreet Singh :- Panic spread in a village near Ajnala after an unidentified body was discovered under mysterious circumstances on Friday morning, prompting swift police action and the launch of an investigation.
According to initial information, local residents spotted the body lying in a drain under suspicious conditions and immediately alerted the police. Acting on the information, a police team reached the spot, took possession of the body, and initiated further proceedings.
The body has been shifted to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination and identification. Officials stated that the deceased appears to be around 35 years of age. Notably, the word “Sandhu” is tattooed on one hand of the deceased, while another tattoo mark is present on the other hand, which may help establish identity.
Station House Officer Harjit Singh said the body has been kept for 72 hours for identification, and efforts are underway to trace the identity of the deceased. He added that the exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained.
Police have begun a thorough investigation from all possible angles, including the possibility of foul play. Further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report and identification of the deceased.
