Haryana Invites NGOs To Support HIV/AIDS Patients, Applications Open Till November 20

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): The Haryana State AIDS Control Society (HSACS) has invited applications from registered non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and community-based organisations (CBOs) to help provide care and support services for people living with HIV in the state.

The initiative is being implemented under the National AIDS and STD Control Programme (NACP), overseen by the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. According to a government statement issued on October 22, the programme aims to strengthen community-based interventions, improve outreach and help patients remain connected to treatment.

Selected organisations will be responsible for supporting patients who have interrupted treatment, tracking newly diagnosed individuals until their first viral load test and following up with patients due for subsequent tests.

Which Haryana Districts Are Covered Under The Scheme?

The programme will be implemented across two clusters covering 13 districts, according to HSACS.

The Faridabad cluster will include:

  • Faridabad
  • Mahendragarh
  • Gurugram
  • Nuh
  • Rewari
  • Palwal

The Kurukshetra cluster will cover:

  • Kurukshetra
  • Panchkula

  • Yamunanagar
  • Karnal
  • Kaithal
  • Sonipat

The selected NGOs and CBOs will provide outreach and follow-up services in their allotted areas, with a focus on treatment continuity and access to appropriate care.

What Responsibilities Will Selected NGOs Have?

The organisations will be expected to track patients who have discontinued or interrupted treatment and help newly diagnosed patients reach their first viral load test. They will also follow up with patients whose viral load tests are due.

Additional responsibilities will include counselling patients with high viral loads, supporting HIV-positive pregnant women and infants born to them, and helping eligible patients access social security schemes.

These activities are intended to strengthen links between patients and healthcare services, while helping address gaps in treatment follow-up and patient support.
