Haryana Clears Rs 97 Crore Drug Procurement and Diagnostic Upgrades for State Hospitals

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): The Haryana government will ensure the continuous availability of quality medications and modern diagnostic services across all state healthcare facilities through targeted equipment and medicine procurements, Health Minister Arti Singh Rao announced on Friday. Presiding over a meeting of the Special High Powered Purchase Committee in Chandigarh, the minister approved key procurement proposals to strengthen public healthcare delivery through the Haryana Medical Services Corporation Limited.

To maintain an uninterrupted supply chain across government hospitals, the committee approved the procurement of 117 critical and essential medicines valued at approximately ₹97 crore. The authorized list includes injectable drugs, antibiotics, antipsychotics, antidiabetic formulations, and cardiovascular medications essential for treating diverse conditions. The procurement framework prioritizes quality control, cost efficiency, and timely supply across state medical centres.

The committee also sanctioned major diagnostic and infrastructure upgrades for premier medical institutions, including PGIMS Rohtak. A fully automated ID-NAT system worth around ₹2.40 crore was approved for PGIMS Rohtak’s blood bank to enhance blood safety, alongside a digital radiography system with fluoroscopy valued at ₹2.20 crore under a two-year rate contract to modernize imaging services.

To improve district-level healthcare capabilities, approvals were granted for the purchase of 22 optical coherence tonometers worth ₹6.62 crore for civil hospitals across all 22 districts to bolster specialized ophthalmic care. Additionally, the committee greenlit 19 fully automated blood culture systems worth ₹2.06 crore for district civil hospitals and government medical colleges to enable rapid detection of bloodstream infections.
