New Delhi (Gurpreet Singh): The Aam Aadmi Party on Friday expressed deep concern over the sharp rise in swine flu infections across the National Capital, urging the Delhi administration to proactively launch public awareness campaigns and ramp up medical preparedness to contain the spread.
AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj stated that a large number of residents, particularly school-going children, are experiencing high-grade fever, severe cough, and acute flu-like symptoms. Highlighting the contagious nature of the H1N1 virus, Bharadwaj noted that transmission within households is occurring rapidly and called for immediate steps to ensure the adequate availability of essential medicines across all government hospitals and local dispensaries.
The development comes as Delhi recorded 1,777 cases of swine flu so far this year. Addressing the health challenge, Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh along with senior state health department officials held a high-level review meeting with Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda and officials from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to assess preparedness and containment strategies. Medical experts have advised citizens to remain vigilant for symptoms such as persistent fever, sore throat, body aches, fatigue, and shortness of breath, emphasizing prompt medical evaluation in severe cases.
