On Nov. 26, 2024, 1656758 Alberta Inc. operating under the firm name and style of Enviro Container and Cleaning Solutions Inc. pleaded guilty for contravening the Water Act. It was sentenced to a fine of $12,000, inclusive of a victim fine surcharge. The company was using water from an unlicensed water well for washing empty plastic totes at its intermediate bulk container reconditioning and recycling facility in Red Deer County. 45-year-old shot dead at crematorium in Patiala over property dispute

Patiala | A 45-year-old man was shot dead at a crematorium near Glalori Gate on Friday morning. The victim has been identified as Navneet Singh who was visiting the crematorium to collect the mortal remains of his uncle. While he was standing at the crematorium along with other relatives, two assailants appeared and opened fire. According to eye witnesses, the assailants fired from a close range on Navneet’s head, killing him on the spot. Punjab Govt intensifies recovery of possession tax from defaulting motor vehicle dealers

Chandigarh | The Punjab Government has taken decisive measures to recover Rs.7.85 crore in possession tax arrears from defaulting motor vehicle dealers operating in the state. Divulging this, Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar said that persistent audit objections and overdue recoveries have necessitated immediate intervention by the Transport Department to uphold compliance and accountability. To ensure adherence to Rule-40 of the Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989 and as part of the recovery drive, the department has temporarily deactivated the User IDs of defaulting dealers on the VAHAN portal, said the Cabinet Minister, adding that this drive follows a similar initiative…
