Kohima (Gurpreet Singh) — An Assam Rifles personnel member was killed and four others suffered injuries following a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) explosion in the Chumoukedima district of Nagaland on Monday. Defence PRO Colonel Amit Shukla confirmed that the blast targeted an Assam Rifles vehicle while it was executing a routine operational movement through the region.
Following the targeted detonation, security forces immediately cordoned off the sector and initiated a comprehensive search and combing operation to track down the perpetrators. The four injured personnel were evacuated from the site and shifted to a nearby medical facility for emergency treatment.
While regional authorities and security agencies have launched a high-level investigation into the breach, official sources have not yet disclosed the identities of the deceased jawan or the wounded personnel. No insurgent group has claimed responsibility for the ambush so far, and further details are awaited as operations continue in the area.
