Chandigarh (Gurpreet Singh) — The Punjab Government’s flagship nutritional security initiative, “Meri Rasoi,” has achieved a major milestone, distributing over 27.18 lakh ration kits to vulnerable households across the state. Directed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak, the ongoing drive is operating on a mission mode to fulfill its ultimate target of covering 40.48 lakh eligible families every quarter.
The ration kits, assembled by Markfed and distributed under the oversight of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, are designed to supplement staple grains provided under the National Food Security Act, 2013. Each monthly kit contains two kilograms of lentils, two kilograms of sugar, one kilogram of salt, 200 grams of turmeric powder, and one litre of mustard oil. The additional provisions aim to balance nutritional intake by providing essential proteins, cooking oil, and basic spices directly to low-income households.
District-wise logistics indicate that Ludhiana is leading the drive with 300,480 kits distributed, followed by Patiala at 203,591 and Bathinda at 168,811. Significant progress has also been recorded in Amritsar, Fazilka, and Sangrur, alongside steady distribution networks operating across Jalandhar, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, and Gurdaspur. Local administration and state departments continue to monitor the distribution pipeline closely to maintain supply chain transparency, eliminate duplication, and guarantee last-mile delivery to all listed beneficiaries.
