Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh)— In a major push toward infrastructure development and fiscal discipline, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini chaired a high-level meeting of the State Pragati Project committee on Monday. Reviewing 12 ongoing mega projects, each valued at over ₹75 crore, the Chief Minister directed administrative secretaries to ensure strict adherence to project timelines. He emphasized that project extensions lead to unnecessary cost overruns, causing a financial burden on the state exchequer and delaying vital public benefits.
Among the major economic initiatives discussed, the administration is focusing on establishing renewable energy systems at key agricultural trade centers. The Chief Minister ordered the installation of solar power infrastructure on the roofs of the Pinjore Apple Market and the Gannaur International Fruit, Flower, and Vegetable Market to make them energy self-reliant. The Gannaur facility, designed to serve as a major trading hub for farmers from across North India—including Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh—will feature advanced cold-chain storage, rain harvesting setups, and a dedicated 20 per cent green zone layout.
The review meeting also highlighted several key regional development projects across multiple sectors:
- Digital Connectivity: The state’s rural digital expansion under the BharatNet initiative has reached its final phase, successfully laying optical fiber cables across 5,200 gram panchayats. The remaining 1,000 panchayats will be connected shortly, linking public schools, health centers, and e-libraries.
- Healthcare Infrastructure: A seven-story, 100-bed hospital will be constructed in Nuh at an estimated cost of ₹156 crore, with boundary wall construction already underway for a target completion within two years.
- Heritage and Tourism: The state will develop a Maratha Shaurya Smarak spanning 16 acres at Kala Amb in Panipat, alongside the Rao Tula Ram Martyr’s Memorial in Mahendragarh. Additionally, plans are finalized for a four-lane scenic corridor leading to the Pinjore Gardens and the expansion of the Tikkar Taal access road.
- Industrial and Academic Hubs: The administration is accelerating infrastructural development for the ₹707-crore Integrated Manufacturing Cluster in Hisar and the ₹1,003-crore Global City Project in Gurgaon, which will feature enhanced connectivity to National Highway 48 and the Dwarka Expressway. Furthermore, a new veterinary science college and animal farm infrastructure are being developed at Lala Lajpat Rai University in Hisar.
The review session was attended by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Arun Gupta, alongside several additional chief secretaries and senior departmental heads.
