Mumbai (Gurpreet Singh): Punjabi actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh has finally reacted after his film Satluj was removed from ZEE5 in India. Instead of issuing a detailed statement, the actor chose to express his feelings through a social media post that referenced the film’s central figure, Jaswant Singh Khalra.
Diljit shared a clip from the film on Instagram along with the hashtag #IChallengeTheDarkness. In the accompanying message, he suggested that the treatment of Satluj reflected the challenges once faced by Khalra himself. Though brief, the post carried a strong emotional undertone and immediately drew attention from fans and supporters.
The development came shortly after ZEE5 announced that the film would no longer be available for streaming in India. While the platform did not specify the reasons behind the decision, it maintained that the move was temporary and assured viewers that efforts were underway to restore the film through the appropriate legal and procedural channels.
In its official statement, the streaming service thanked audiences for the overwhelming support the film had received since its release. It reiterated its belief in meaningful storytelling and stated that it remains committed to standing by creators who bring socially relevant narratives to the screen.
Released on July 3, Satluj quickly generated discussion among viewers because of its subject matter. The film features Diljit Dosanjh in the lead role alongside Arjun Rampal, Kanwaljeet Singh, Suvinder Vicky, and several other notable actors.
The story is inspired by the life of Jaswant Singh Khalra, the Punjab-based human rights activist who became internationally recognised for documenting alleged cases of enforced disappearances and unidentified cremations during the militancy era. His work remains one of the most significant human rights investigations associated with Punjab’s history.
Diljit’s latest social media post has intensified conversations around the film, with many viewers expressing disappointment over its removal while hoping it will soon become available again for audiences in India.
