Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced during a press conference in Chandigarh on Tuesday that the state government will organize the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign’ for Independence Day 2026 on a broader, more impactful, and community-driven scale. Emphasizing that the initiative extends beyond hoisting the national flag, Saini described it as a comprehensive mass movement designed to foster patriotism, national unity, social harmony, and deep respect for the sacrifices made during the freedom struggle. This year’s campaign is specially dedicated to celebrating the 150th anniversary of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’, which historically inspired millions of citizens during the independence movement and continues to connect younger generations with India’s rich heritage.
Highlighting recent athletic achievements, Chief Minister Saini expressed immense pride in the Indian contingent’s stellar performance at the Commonwealth Games, where athletes secured 39 medals. He underscored Haryana’s crucial role as the sports capital of the nation, noting that state athletes won 10 of the 39 overall medals, including 7 out of the country’s 13 gold medals. Notably, female athletes from Haryana earned 5 of those gold medals. Saini extended his heartfelt congratulations to the athletes, their families, and coaches, attributing these successes to the state’s robust sports promotion policies and the dedication of its competitors.
Outlining the state’s promotional roadmap, the Chief Minister detailed that from August 9 to August 17, widespread activities including Tiranga rallies, bicycle and e-bike processions, cultural performances, and public awareness programs will take place across every village, city, and ward. Rallies will be routed past local war memorials and historical sites to honour native freedom fighters. A flagship Tiranga Concert themed around ‘Vande Mataram’ is scheduled for August 9 in Mahendragarh, featuring patriotic musical presentations and mass recitals. Saini urged educational institutions, industries, youth groups, and social organizations to actively participate while advising all citizens to strictly adhere to the Flag Code of India to uphold the dignity of the national flag.
Furthermore, Chief Minister Saini announced that ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’ will be observed across the state on August 14, with a central state-level event taking place in Gurugram. The occasion will feature exhibitions, interactive dialogues, and a candlelight silent march to pay tribute to victims and displaced families affected by the 1947 partition. Additionally, to mark the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Maharaj, the state has launched the ‘Guru Ravidas Maharaj Samrasata Sankalp Campaign’, running until February 20, 2027. A sacred Kalash Yatra that originated from Varanasi has arrived in Haryana to spread messages of equality and social justice, which will be followed by a comprehensive ‘Samrasata Yatra’ traveling from Dera Sachkhand Ballan in Punjab to Varanasi between October 5 and November 5.
