Haryana Discoms Achieve Major Milestone by Securing Eighty-Eight Per Cent of Annual EV Charging Network Target

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh) — Power distribution companies (Discoms) in Haryana have achieved a major infrastructure milestone in their ongoing mission to accelerate electric vehicle (EV) adoption across the state. Operating under the state government’s comprehensive e-mobility strategy and clean energy directives, the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) have rapidly expanded the regional public charging network.

Vikram Singh, the Managing Director of UHBVN and DHBVN, announced that the state successfully installed 789 operational EV charging stations and points by June 30, 2026. This achievement represents approximately eighty-eight per cent of the annual target of 900 charging stations set for the calendar year. Singh emphasized that the establishment of a modern, highly accessible, and dependable charging ecosystem remains central to lowering carbon footprints, minimizing deep reliance on conventional fossil fuels, and promoting environmental conservation.

The administrative dashboard highlights robust progress across major urban, industrial, and commercial hubs. Gurugram has emerged as the state’s largest operational base, establishing 336 charging stations against a projected target of 380. Significant progress has also been recorded in other major areas, including 49 out of 60 points in Faridabad, 54 out of 60 in Manesar, 126 out of 150 in Sonipat, 89 out of 100 in Karnal, 64 out of 75 in Panipat, and 71 out of a targeted 75 points in Rohtak.

Following the review, the Managing Director directed all field engineers and departmental officers to execute the remaining installation targets well within the designated timelines. The Discoms plan to extend stable and continuous charging access across all critical high-traffic zones to offer seamless utility to consumers and solidify Haryana’s reputation as a frontrunner in sustainable green transportation.
