Uttar Pradesh (Rajeev Sharma): A devastating late-night incident in Ambedkar Nagar resulted in the deaths of eight people after a speeding car crashed into a group of locals gathered at an accident site.

Police said the accident unfolded near Ashrafpur Bhua village along the Jalalpur–Akbarpur road on Sunday night. Two motorcycles had collided moments earlier, leaving riders injured and prompting nearby residents to assemble and offer assistance.

As people crowded the roadside, a high-speed car suddenly ploughed into the group, leaving multiple individuals critically injured. Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as victims were thrown aside by the impact.

Emergency services rushed the injured to a local health facility, where several were declared dead on arrival. Others with serious injuries were referred to higher medical centres but could not survive, taking the total number of fatalities to eight.

Authorities have identified most of the victims, while efforts continue to confirm the remaining identities. The driver responsible for the crash fled immediately after the incident, and police teams are conducting raids to locate and arrest him.

Officials have launched a comprehensive investigation into the case, examining factors such as vehicle speed, road conditions, and possible negligence.
