Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): The Haryana government is set to upgrade 250 PM SHRI schools with modern educational infrastructure, including digital classrooms, smart classrooms, advanced laboratories, libraries and green campuses, Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda said on Monday.
The minister made the announcement while chairing a review meeting with senior officials of the Education Department at his official residence in Chandigarh. The meeting focused on the renovation of government schools, expansion of basic facilities and promotion of sports activities.
What Facilities Will 250 PM SHRI Schools Get?
According to the state government, the selected PM SHRI schools are being developed with a focus on modern learning infrastructure. The libraries will also be equipped with improved facilities to provide students with a better academic environment.
Digital and smart classrooms, advanced laboratories and green campuses are among the facilities planned as part of the upgrade.
Dhanda directed officials to complete the school development works within a fixed timeline. He said delays or negligence in infrastructure and academic arrangements would not be tolerated and that accountability would be fixed wherever work is delayed.
Haryana Targets Better Sports Facilities In Schools
The review meeting also focused on strengthening sports infrastructure in government schools.
Highlighting Haryana’s contribution to Indian sports, Dhanda said the state aims to prepare more athletes at the grassroots level so that Haryana players can win more medals for the country at the 2036 Olympics.
As part of the plan, government schools will be provided with high-quality sports equipment. The distribution of equipment will be based on the sporting interests and requirements of individual schools, the government said.
The initiative is aimed at giving young athletes access to appropriate resources from an early stage and creating an environment for their training and development.
Education And Sports To Get Greater Focus
The planned revamp of the 250 PM SHRI schools is part of the state’s efforts to strengthen government-school infrastructure while improving the learning environment for students.
Alongside modern classrooms and laboratories, the government is also focusing on sports facilities as a means of identifying and nurturing talent at the school level.
Senior officials present at the meeting included Haryana School Education Department Principal Secretary Vijay Singh Dahiya and Education Project Council Director Swapnil Ravindra Patil, besides other officials.
