Tusshar Kapoor Targeted in Rs 5 Crore Extortion Attempt; Voice Analysis Raises Doubts Over Gang Connection

Mumbai (Rajeev Sharma): Mumbai Police are investigating an alleged extortion attempt targeting Bollywood actor Tusshar Kapoor, after an unidentified individual reportedly demanded ₹5 crore while posing as a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

According to sources within the Mumbai Police, the caller claimed to be Harry Boxer and allegedly used the gang’s name to threaten the actor. Kapoor subsequently brought the matter to the attention of the police, following which the case was taken up by the Anti-Extortion Cell and the Crime Branch.

A key development in the investigation emerged after the Crime Branch’s technical unit examined the audio recording of the alleged threat. Officials compared the caller’s voice with reference recordings of Harry Boxer maintained in police records.

The analysis reportedly revealed no similarity between the voices. This has led investigators to question whether the caller was genuinely associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang or was simply using its identity to carry out an extortion attempt.

Police officials are now working to establish the source of the recording and identify the person responsible for sending it. Investigators are also examining the circumstances surrounding the threatening communication.

While the suspected gang connection remains unverified, the voice comparison has provided investigators with an important lead in determining the authenticity of the threat. Further details are expected as the Mumbai Crime Branch continues its probe.
