Assembly Elections Result 2026: Vote Counting Starts Simultaneously Across Key States and UT

News Alert

New Delhi (Rajeev Sharma): The process of counting votes for recently held Assembly elections got underway on Monday morning across West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry, with authorities ensuring high levels of security and coordination.

In West Bengal, considered one of the most closely watched contests, counting operations began at designated centres under strict surveillance. A large deployment of central forces alongside state police has been made to maintain law and order. Officials confirmed that electronic voting machines have been kept under tight security, with multiple checks in place to ensure transparency throughout the process.

Assam is witnessing counting across dozens of centres, where hundreds of candidates await the outcome of a keenly contested election. The results are expected to determine whether the current ruling alliance continues in power or faces a challenge from opposition parties.

In southern India, Tamil Nadu’s counting exercise for all Assembly constituencies is progressing under heavy security arrangements. Kerala has also initiated counting across multiple centres, where officials began with postal ballots before moving on to electronic votes.

In Puducherry, election officials started the counting procedure with postal votes, followed by EVMs shortly after, adhering to standard election protocols.

Across all states and the Union Territory, authorities have deployed monitoring teams and rapid response units to handle any untoward situation. The results are expected to shape the political landscape in these regions for the coming years.
