Commercial LPG Cylinder Becomes Cheaper as Oil Companies Slash Prices; Domestic Cylinder Rates Stay the Same

New Delhi (Rajeev Sharma): Commercial LPG users across India have received a significant price relief after oil marketing companies revised the rates of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders, bringing down prices in several major cities from Friday. The reduction is expected to ease the fuel burden on restaurants, hotels, food outlets and other businesses that depend on commercial cooking gas.

As per sources, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has been cut by ₹202 in Delhi, while consumers in Kolkata will benefit from a larger reduction of ₹209. Following the latest revision, the retail price of a commercial cylinder in Kolkata has been fixed at ₹2,872.50.

The latest cut applies exclusively to commercial LPG cylinders and does not affect domestic consumers.

No Change in Household LPG Rates

The prices of 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinders remain unchanged, ensuring there is no immediate impact on household cooking gas expenses. Domestic consumers will continue to purchase LPG cylinders at the existing rates until the next scheduled price revision.

Industry observers believe the reduction in commercial LPG prices could provide some relief to businesses in the hospitality and food service sectors by lowering operational costs.

LPG prices are reviewed periodically by oil marketing companies, with revisions based on factors such as global fuel prices, import costs and market conditions. The latest revision offers immediate financial relief to commercial users while keeping domestic cooking gas prices stable.
