Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday gave the green light to construct outer ring roads and bypass corridors around towns and cities with populations exceeding 100,000 to alleviate urban traffic congestion. Presiding over a high-level review meeting in Chandigarh focused on the adoption of a financial model for state contributions, Saini directed officials to formulate policies aligned with central government norms to expedite execution. A three-member committee comprising representatives from the Finance, Public Works, and Urban Local Bodies departments has been constituted to oversee cost-sharing frameworks with the Centre for projects totalling approximately ₹9,700 crore.
During the meeting, the administration granted formal clearances for major bypass projects across Hisar, Kurukshetra, Narnaul, Jind, and the Sohna-Palwal stretch. The planned Hisar bypass will establish vital connectivity linking the Hisar-Rajgarh section of National Highway 52 with the Delhi and Kaithal corridors. The detailed project report for the Kurukshetra-Ladwa bypass has been finalized to initiate ground work soon, while an 11-kilometre Narnaul City bypass will link directly with National Highway 148B. Additionally, Jind will receive an outer ring road and a four-lane bypass connecting with National Highway 352, alongside the redesign and reconstruction of the 24-kilometre four-lane corridor from National Highway 919 to the Sohna-Palwal bypass.
The Chief Minister highlighted that greenfield connectivity will also link the DND-Faridabad-Ballabhgarh bypass and KMP link from the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway toward the Jewar International Airport. Land share contributions have already been remitted for the Karnal ring road, while ongoing work on the Ambala ring road connecting Ambala City with Ambala Cantt approaches final stages of completion.
Beyond the major bypass corridors, administrative approval was accorded to vital regional infrastructure works, including a railway underbridge on Civil Station Road along the Rewari-Bhatinda railway line in Sirsa. Several rural link roads and upgrades across the Kanina-Mahendragarh sector, Nangwas-Ateli route, and nearby rural stretches were also cleared during the session attended by Public Works Minister Ranbir Gangwa, Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi, and senior administrative officials.
