Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Governor Prof. Asim Kumar Ghosh addressed the state-level Independence Day celebrations in Yamunanagar, paying rich tributes to freedom fighters and national martyrs at the Shaheed Smarak before unfurling the national flag at the Anaj Mandi in Jagadhri. Speaking to the gathering, the Governor highlighted India’s post-independence journey and underscored the nation’s rapid progress toward becoming a developed, self-reliant global power.
The Governor outlined major strides taken across key sectors in Haryana, commending farmers for adopting modern agricultural techniques through government support schemes such as PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi and Bhavantar Bharpayee programs. He noted significant budgetary enhancements in education, expanding healthcare access through the Chirayu Ayushman Haryana scheme, and direct benefit transfers of Rs 1,595 crore disbursed to over 50 lakh beneficiaries across welfare initiatives like the Deendayal Lado Lakshmi and social security pension schemes.
Highlighting the state’s sporting excellence, the Governor commended Haryana athletes for consistently securing top international honours in the Olympics, Paralympics, and Commonwealth Games. He also pointed to historic infrastructure milestones, including the launch of India’s first hydrogen-powered train in the state and ongoing development projects worth nearly Rs 14,700 crore aimed at upgrading transport, industrial capacity, and healthcare systems across the region.
The ceremonial event featured a march past, cultural performances by local school contingents, and the felicitation of war widows by the Governor, accompanied by First Lady Mitra Ghosh. The Governor also flagged off Red Cross ambulances, joined by senior state police and administrative officials, judges, and public representatives.
