Chandigarh (Gurpreet Singh): State authorities in Punjab have issued an updated daily schedule for all government-run schools, adapting institutional timings to align with the shifting autumn weather. The revised operational routine is slated to take effect from October 1, 2026, across every government educational facility in the state.
Under the modified timetable, instructional hours for primary, middle, high, and senior secondary institutions will commence half an hour later, running from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This framework supersedes the preceding setup, under which morning assemblies and classes began at 8:00 a.m. and concluded at 2:00 p.m.
The transition aims to provide a more suitable morning schedule for students and teaching faculty as temperatures begin to cool. According to state directives, the 8:30 a.m. start time will remain enforced throughout the entire month, spanning October 1 to October 31, 2026, before further seasonal evaluations take place.
School administrations and local education officers have been directed to implement the adjusted timings uniformly across urban and rural jurisdictions.
