New Delhi, December 11, 2025: The Election Commission of India on Thursday extended the deadlines for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls across five states and one Union Territory, aiming to ensure that all eligible voters are included before the final rolls are published in February 2026.
As per the revised schedule, the enumeration process in Tamil Nadu and Gujarat will now continue until December 14, with draft rolls to be released on December 19. In Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the revised enumeration period will conclude on December 18, followed by the publication of draft rolls on December 23.
Uttar Pradesh has received the longest extension of 15 days. The enumeration there will now close on December 26, and draft rolls will be issued on December 31. Earlier, all six regions were expected to finish enumeration by December 11, with draft lists scheduled for December 16.
Meanwhile, Goa, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, Rajasthan, and West Bengal will complete the process today, and the draft rolls will be published on December 16. Kerala’s timeline had already been revised following a Supreme Court directive asking the Election Commission to reconsider the schedule after political parties argued that the SIR exercise was affecting ongoing local body elections. Kerala will now finish enumeration on December 18 and release draft rolls on December 23, with the final rolls slated for February 21, 2026.
The Election Commission urged new voters to submit Form 6 either to Booth Level Officers or through the ECINet app or website to ensure inclusion in the final electoral rolls.
