Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Public Works Minister Ranbir Gangwa on Saturday urged people to make yoga an integral part of their daily routine, saying that a healthy India can only be built through healthy citizens.
Addressing a one-day yoga training programme organised at the hockey ground of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium in Sirsa, Gangwa said yoga should not be limited to a particular day or occasion but should be adopted as a regular lifestyle practice. The programme was jointly organised by the Women and Child Development Department, Ayush Department and the district administration.
The minister said that in today’s fast-paced world, people are increasingly facing stress and lifestyle-related health problems. He described yoga as an effective means of maintaining both physical and mental well-being, adding that it not only improves flexibility, strength and energy levels but also promotes peace of mind and emotional balance.
Gangwa emphasised that a physically and mentally fit population is essential for the country’s progress. He said that when citizens remain healthy, the nation becomes stronger and more capable of achieving its development goals.
Highlighting the growing global recognition of yoga, the minister credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts for bringing India’s ancient practice to the international stage. He said yoga has emerged as a global movement and is now being embraced by people across the world as a tool for holistic health and well-being.
He further noted that under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, yoga awareness and training programmes are being conducted across Haryana on a large scale. The state government, he said, is committed to taking yoga to every household and encouraging people from all sections of society to participate.
Appealing to the public, Gangwa urged citizens not only to practice yoga themselves but also to motivate their family members, friends and communities to adopt the discipline as part of a healthier lifestyle.
