Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday said that the vision of a developed India can only be achieved through the development of villages, urging young people to work towards making villages self-reliant, empowering youth and ensuring prosperity for farmers.
Addressing the annual foundation day celebrations of the Seva Sadhana and Gram Vikas Kendra in Samalkha, Panipat, as the chief guest, Saini described the institution as a living model of an Atam Nirbhar (self-reliant India). He said the centre represents a powerful combination of service, dedication and rural development, aimed at transforming society through collective participation.
Congratulating the families associated with the organisation, the Chief Minister said meaningful and lasting change becomes possible when society itself takes responsibility for its development. He noted that the centre is focusing on the holistic development of nearly 100 villages by promoting education, skill development, healthcare, agriculture, sports, culture and employment opportunities.
Saini said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India rests on the strength of rural India. He added that the institution embodies the ideals of “One Land, One Family and One Future,” reflecting India’s cultural philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which views the entire world as one family.
Highlighting the importance of skill development, the Chief Minister welcomed the establishment of a Skill Development Centre at the institution and its collaboration with Shri Vishwakarma Skill University. He said such initiatives would equip young people with industry-relevant skills and help transform them from job seekers into job creators.
The Chief Minister also stressed the need to promote natural farming and outlined several measures introduced by the Haryana Government. He announced that the subsidy for indigenous cows used in natural farming has been increased to ₹30,000. Farmers adopting natural farming will also receive ₹3,000 assistance for purchasing storage and processing drums required for preparing natural farming inputs.
He further said that APEDA-certified natural and organic farmers would receive financial assistance of ₹10,000 per acre annually for five years. Around 800 acres of government-owned agricultural land will be leased only to farmers committed to practising natural and organic farming for at least a decade. A new policy is also being prepared to encourage natural farming on panchayat lands.
To improve market access for organic produce, Saini announced that dedicated spaces would be created in 10 mandis across the state for natural and organic farmers. Testing laboratories and APEDA-recognised certification centres will also be established to help farmers secure better prices for their produce.
The Chief Minister said Haryana will launch a Smart Agriculture Project covering 2,000 acres in Kurukshetra district in collaboration with Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University. The initiative will combine natural farming with modern agricultural technology. He assured farmers that any losses incurred under the scheme would be compensated by the state government.
Praising the centre’s efforts in sports promotion, Saini said Haryana has earned recognition as a sporting powerhouse and expressed confidence that the institution’s sports nursery would help nurture future national and international athletes.
He also highlighted plans to establish hostels for underprivileged students, enabling them to pursue education and personality development in a supportive environment. Such facilities, he said, would serve as centres for nurturing talent and ensuring social upliftment.
Calling the Seva Sadhana and Gram Vikas Kendra a model for the nation, the Chief Minister said it successfully integrates traditional values with modern development goals. He urged citizens, especially youth, to contribute towards rural development and help realise the vision of a developed India.
Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda, Panipat Urban MLA Pramod Vij, Samalkha MLA Manmohan Bhadana and Madhav Jan Seva Nyas President Pawan Jindal were among those present at the event.
