Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): School Education Department in Panchkula. Marking Teachers’ Day, the honours recognised educators for their outstanding contributions to academic development across the state. Each recipient was awarded a cash prize of one lakh rupees, along with a medal, a ceremonial shawl, and two advance salary increments.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Governor Ghosh remarked that the honours reflect the collective dedication of Haryana’s teaching fraternity and educational ecosystem. Highlighting the enduring legacy of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, he underscored that while emerging technologies and artificial intelligence provide instantaneous answers and data, only teachers cultivate the wisdom and critical discernment needed to ask meaningful questions. He noted that rapid technological transformation has amplified rather than diminished the foundational role of mentors in building discipline, scientific curiosity, and integrity among youth.
The Governor stressed that classrooms serve as the foundational bedrock for India’s 2047 development vision, shaping future scientists, compassionate physicians, principled administrators, and conscientious citizens. Urging educators to prepare students for life’s challenges rather than focusing solely on syllabus completion and examination scores, he underscored the collective obligation to ensure no student falls behind due to financial hardship, with a particular focus on empowering girls. He framed the state awards as the start of an expanded responsibility, calling upon the recipients to mentor upcoming teachers and share best practices across institutions.
The state-level event was attended by Haryana’s First Lady Mitra Ghosh, School Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda, Principal Secretary of School Education Vijay Singh Dahiya, Secondary Education Director General Jitender Kumar, Elementary Education Director Manita Malik, Deputy Commissioner Satpal Sharma, and Panchkula Mayor Shyam Lal Bansal, along with senior educational administrators and community representatives.
