Canada (Rajeev Sharma): Popular Punjabi artist Diljit Dosanjh is facing renewed controversy during his international tour, as protest activity linked to pro-Khalistan groups continues to follow his performances abroad.

The situation escalated after Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, associated with Sikhs for Justice, issued a video message cautioning that demonstrations seen during recent shows in Canada could intensify and extend to upcoming events in the United States.

During several concerts in Canada, groups carrying Khalistan-related flags gathered near venues, leading to tense moments. Dosanjh, while performing, addressed the disruptions from the stage, urging that the shows remain focused on music and entertainment.

In the latest remarks circulating online, Pannun criticised the singer’s public expressions and actions, claiming they had provoked resentment among certain groups. He further suggested that similar protests could escalate during future tour stops, particularly in the US.

The issue has sparked widespread discussion on social media, where supporters of the singer have praised his calm handling of the situation, while critics continue to question his responses. Despite the growing debate, Dosanjh has not issued any fresh official statement regarding the latest warning.

With several international performances still lined up, attention is now on how organisers and local authorities will handle security arrangements. Experts note that large-scale tours often require additional coordination in such situations to ensure safety for audiences and performers alike.

As the tour progresses, the controversy underscores the complex intersection of entertainment, identity, and political sensitivities on global platforms.
