Chandigarh (Gurpreet Singh): With thousands of candidates set to appear for the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Level-1 examination, Northern Railway has announced the operation of six special unreserved trains to facilitate hassle-free travel across Punjab. The additional services will remain operational from August 3 to August 6, covering several major railway stations in the state.
Railway officials said the decision has been taken to accommodate the expected increase in passenger movement during the examination period and to help candidates reach their designated centres on time.
According to Northern Railway CPRO Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, all the special trains will operate in the unreserved category, enabling passengers to travel using standard unreserved tickets purchased from railway booking counters.
The trains will connect important destinations including Amritsar, Ferozepur Cantt, Ludhiana, Jalandhar City, Phagwara and Muktsar, offering greater convenience to students travelling from different parts of Punjab.
Routes and Timings
Train 04601 will run from Ferozepur Cantt to Amritsar, departing at 11:00 pm between August 3 and August 6, with a scheduled halt at Jalandhar City.
Its return service, Train 04602, will leave Amritsar Junction at 4:20 pm on the same dates, stopping at Jalandhar City before reaching Ferozepur Cantt.
Candidates travelling from Ludhiana can board Train 04603, which will depart Ludhiana Junction at 4:25 am daily for Jalandhar City during the examination period.
For the return journey, Train 04604 will leave Jalandhar City at 8:50 pm, bringing passengers back to Ludhiana.
Another special service, Train 04605, will operate from Muktsar to Phagwara, departing at 12:15 am and halting at Kotkapura, Faridkot, Ferozepur Cantt and Ludhiana Junction.
The corresponding return train, 04606, will depart Phagwara Junction at 4:20 pm, passing through Ludhiana, Ferozepur Cantt, Faridkot and Kotkapura before reaching Muktsar.
Railways Issues Advisory
Railway authorities have advised candidates to verify train schedules before leaving for the station, as operational timings may be updated if required. Passengers can obtain the latest information through the Railway Helpline 139 or the official railway enquiry portal.
Officials have also appealed to candidates to arrive at railway stations well ahead of departure time to ensure a smooth journey and avoid missing their examinations. The temporary train services are expected to ease congestion and provide reliable transportation for thousands of aspirants across the state.
