Punjab Police bust cross-border arms smuggling racket, one held with Glock pistols

Gurpreet Singh :- In a major breakthrough against illegal arms trafficking, the Counter Intelligence unit of the Punjab Police in Ferozepur has dismantled a cross-border weapons smuggling network and arrested one suspect during a special operation. The police recovered five .30 bore Glock pistols along with four live cartridges from the accused.

According to preliminary investigations, the seized weapons are suspected to have been smuggled into India through illegal routes along the international border. Officials believe the firearms were intended to be supplied further to criminal elements operating in the region through a wider organised network.

Police sources said the arrest has provided crucial leads regarding the functioning of cross-border smuggling channels linked to illegal arms trade. A case has been registered under relevant sections and further investigations are underway to identify the origin of the weapons as well as the persons who were supposed to receive the consignment.

Investigating agencies are also trying to trace other individuals associated with the racket and uncover its larger operational network. Officials suspect that more arrests could follow in the coming days as the probe progresses.

Punjab Police maintained that strict action against illegal arms smuggling and organised crime would continue with full intensity. The police reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring that anti-social and criminal networks operating through cross-border channels are dealt with firmly.
