Chandigarh (Gurpreet Singh) — The Shiromani Akali Dal has expelled party spokesperson and leader Roop Kaur Sandhu from its primary membership, citing repeated acts of misconduct and indiscipline. The disciplinary measure was finalized following comprehensive consultations among senior organizational leaders, according to Istri Akali Dal president Bibi Hargobind Kaur. Party officials maintained that the stern action became necessary after Sandhu consistently engaged in conduct that ran counter to established party guidelines and internal regulations.
The expulsion comes shortly after Sandhu publicly raised concerns regarding the alleged exploitation and harassment of women within socio-religious and Panthic circles. Sandhu had previously claimed that multiple women had approached her with grievances concerning prominent political and religious figures, pledging to release detailed findings and submit evidence to the Akal Takht leadership. The swift action by the party’s high command underscores mounting internal friction amid heightened scrutiny surrounding the allegations.
