Punjab Congress to Hold Key Strategy Meeting Ahead of Civic, Assembly Polls

Gurpreet Singh :- The Punjab Congress has intensified preparations for the upcoming municipal corporation and Assembly elections, with a crucial party meeting scheduled to be held in Chandigarh on Saturday.

The meeting will be chaired by Punjab Congress in-charge Bhupesh Baghel and is expected to focus on the party’s electoral roadmap and organisational strengthening in the state. Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa are also expected to attend the deliberations.

With elections due for municipal corporations, municipal councils and nagar panchayats across Punjab, the party leadership is likely to finalise strategies for grassroots mobilisation and constituency management during the meeting.

Party sources said the Congress has already appointed constituency in-charges for eight municipal corporations, 65 municipal councils and 16 nagar panchayats. Several former MLAs, MPs and ex-ministers have been assigned organisational responsibilities to strengthen the party structure ahead of the elections.

The upcoming meeting comes shortly after a training camp organised by the Congress in Himachal Pradesh for nearly 80 district presidents from Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. The camp, held at Gupt Ganga in Kangra, focused on organisational restructuring and cadre-building initiatives.

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi had also attended the camp and interacted with district-level leaders, urging them to strengthen the party at the grassroots level and prepare for future electoral challenges.
