Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Health Minister and President of the Para Sports Association of Haryana, Arti Singh Rao, has announced that an exclusive felicitation ceremony will soon be organized to honour the para-athletes who clinched gold, silver, and bronze medals at the Para Powerlifting Championship held in January 2026. Presiding over a high-level meeting of the Para Sports Association of Haryana in Chandigarh on Wednesday, the Minister emphasized the state’s commitment to ensuring timely recognition, rewards, and encouragement for its exceptional sports talent.
During the administrative meeting, the state association engaged in comprehensive deliberations regarding upcoming organizational restructuring, specifically focusing on holding elections to constitute a new governing body following the completion of the current committee’s three-year tenure. The leadership also mapped out the state’s upcoming sporting calendar, officially scheduling the Haryana State Para Athletics Championship to be conducted in September 2026. Furthermore, Arti Singh Rao stated that a formal communication will be sent to the Ministry of Sports to expedite the release of pending cash awards for all national-level para-medalists from the state.
Celebrating the state’s sports dominance, the Health Minister expressed immense pride in Haryana consistently securing the top position at the National Para Athletics Championship for three consecutive years. She credited this sustained dominance to the tireless hard work, discipline, and grit of the state’s para-athletes and coaches, extending her heartiest congratulations to the sports community. Providing an administrative review during the session, Association General Secretary Jyoti Kumar Chhabra detailed the successful execution of multiple events over the 2025-26 sporting calendar, including the state para-badminton, para-powerlifting, and para-swimming championships, alongside junior and senior national athletics meets held in Bhubaneswar and Chennai. The event was attended by Para Powerlifting Chairman Abhijeet Singh, Founder Giriraj Singh, Treasurer Pawan Kumar, and senior officials Dharmendra Singh, Bhim Singh, and Saloni Kumari.
