Meghalaya Court Grants Bail to Sonam Raghuvanshi in Honeymoon Murder Case

Shillong (Gurpreet Singh): A court in Meghalaya on Tuesday granted bail to Sonam Raghuvanshi, the Indore woman accused of conspiring in the murder of her husband during their honeymoon in the northeastern state last year.
Sonam had been arrested in connection with the killing of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, whose disappearance and death had triggered nationwide attention.
The couple had gone missing during their honeymoon in Meghalaya on May 23, 2025. Days later, on June 2, Raja’s mutilated body was recovered near a waterfall in Sohra in East Khasi Hills district, leading to a murder investigation.
Police had subsequently arrested Sonam along with several others, including a man alleged to be her boyfriend, on charges related to the killing.
Confirming the development, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem said the court had granted bail to the accused, though legal proceedings in the case would continue.
“The accused has been granted bail. However, necessary legal procedures are being followed and the police will continue to pursue the matter,” the SP said.
The case had drawn widespread public attention due to the circumstances surrounding the alleged murder during a honeymoon trip. Investigation into the case remains ongoing.
