Calgary (Rajeev Sharma): ISKCON Calgary is preparing to host the 22nd Annual Sri Jagannath Ratha Yatra Festival on June 20, bringing together thousands of devotees and community members for one of Calgary’s largest spiritual and cultural celebrations. The grand festival will feature the sacred procession of Lord Jagannath (Krishna), along with His brother Baladeva and sister Subhadra, riding through the streets on a beautifully decorated chariot pulled by devotees and members of the community. The Ratha Yatra symbolizes the Lord coming out among the people to bless everyone with His divine darshan and spread the message of peace, devotion, and unity.
Organized by ISKCON Calgary, the annual celebration is part of a worldwide tradition introduced globally by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, founder of ISKCON. Today, the festival is celebrated in more than 750 cities across the world and continues to unite people through spirituality, culture, and devotion. This year’s festival in Calgary will include live kirtan, devotional music, cultural performances, children’s activities, cultural exhibits, yoga and meditation literature, and a free vegetarian prasadam feast for all attendees.

ISKCON Calgary are also encouraging the community to participate through sponsorship and seva opportunities, including prasadam distribution, deity worship, decorations, tents, and cultural programs. Volunteers are being invited to assist with parade arrangements, kitchen services, booth setup, photography, social media, and festival coordination.
Krishnavidyadas shared the festival details with National Times Media and said the event aims to bring people from all backgrounds together in a spirit of devotion, harmony, and community celebration. For sponsorship and volunteering information, community members can contact 587-577-9210, 403-265-3302, or 403-808-0989.
