Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Governor Professor Asim Kumar Ghosh has instructed Deputy Commissioners across the state to take decisive and outcome-oriented measures to completely eradicate tuberculosis (TB). Addressing administrative heads from thirteen districts via video conferencing from the Haryana Lok Bhavan in Chandigarh, the Governor called for periodic audits to evaluate the real-world impact of the ‘TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ and the ‘Ni-kshay Mitra’ initiative.
Emphasizing preventive healthcare, Governor Ghosh highlighted the need to strengthen community-based screening for early detection and timely medical intervention. He directed officials to prioritize high-risk villages and ensure that diagnostic and treatment services directly reach vulnerable populations in underserved areas. Furthermore, he urged administrative teams to ensure that nutritional support kits under the ‘Ni-kshay Mitra’ initiative are delivered to registered patients without delay.
The Governor underscored the effective utilization of technology, particularly the ‘TB Mukt Bharat App’, to monitor patient outcomes and streamline healthcare delivery. He instructed officials to strengthen District TB Centres and conduct regular administrative reviews, announcing that he will formally evaluate district-level performance under the ‘Ni-kshay Mitra’ framework after three months.
Reiterating national health priorities under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Governor Ghosh affirmed that India remains fully committed to achieving its tuberculosis elimination goals. He noted that Haryana has emerged as a top-performing state under the National TB Elimination Program, successfully meeting key performance benchmarks through coordinated multi-sectoral efforts.
