Haryana Government Moves to Provide State-of-the-Art Facilities in Civil Hospitals, Says Health Minister

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Health Minister Arti Singh Rao announced that the state government is consistently taking progressive steps to equip government hospitals with state-of-the-art facilities. In a major boost to the state’s public healthcare infrastructure, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has officially approved the setting up of advanced Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) diagnostic services at the Ambala Civil Hospital.

This significant upgrade marks a milestone in strengthening the public health sector, allowing government-run hospitals to offer high-level diagnostic services on par with super-speciality private institutions. The introduction of this nuclear medicine facility will directly benefit critical patients suffering from cancer, neurological conditions, and cardiovascular diseases. These advanced imaging technologies map cellular activity and blood flow within the body with precision, enabling doctors to detect tumors and other severe abnormalities at a very early stage to initiate timely treatment.

Previously, patients from Ambala and its neighbouring regions had to rely on expensive private diagnostic centres or travel to major referral institutions like PGIMER in Chandigarh for these specialized scans. The Health Minister noted that this decision will bridge the existing gap by providing affordable, world-class testing under one roof, thereby easing the financial burden on local families. This approval aligns with Haryana’s broader strategy to decentralise specialized healthcare, reducing patient load on premier referral institutes while significantly improving patient outcomes in northern Haryana.
