Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh) — Addressing a public rally at Goluka village in Punjab’s Ferozepur district on Wednesday, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini stated that Punjab urgently requires a transparent, development-oriented administration to fulfill the aspirations of its hardworking and resilient populace. Commending Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decisive leadership across national security, economic growth, and citizen welfare, Saini called upon citizens to participate in the nationwide ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ by lighting an ‘Ashirwad Ka Diya’ between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM on September 17 to mark the Prime Minister’s birthday. During his visit, the Chief Minister paid homage to freedom fighter Shaheed Udham Singh and visited Dera Baba Ram Thaman Ji Maharaj to offer prayers.
Drawing comparisons between the governance models of Haryana and Punjab, Saini underscored Haryana’s commitment to merit-based hiring, asserting that over 200,000 government jobs have been awarded purely on merit without patronage or graft over the past twelve years. In contrast, he criticized the current dispensation in Punjab over unfulfilled employment commitments, alleging that public recruitments in the neighbouring state have favored relatives and associates of elected officials rather than deserving candidates.
The Chief Minister also detailed Haryana’s robust farmer-support ecosystem, emphasizing that crops are procured at guaranteed Minimum Support Prices (MSP) with direct payments deposited into bank accounts within 48 to 72 hours. He added that comprehensive natural disaster compensation and the Bhavantar scheme provide essential financial buffers for growers. Addressing the regional narcotics crisis, Saini argued that Punjab’s youth are suffering due to lax enforcement, pointing out that Haryana has established dedicated anti-drug task forces, seized property worth crores from smugglers, and organized massive youth marathons to channel athletic potential constructively.
Saini concluded by reviewing flagship public schemes delivered in Haryana, including the ₹2,100 financial assistance under the Lado Lakshmi Yojana for women, subsidized cooking gas cylinders at ₹500, and free medical care up to ₹5 lakh under the Ayushman Chirayu scheme for nearly 15 million beneficiaries. To protect aspiring youth from fraudulent immigration rings and illegal migration corridors, he noted that Haryana established a dedicated Foreign Cooperation Department to facilitate legitimate international pathways.
