Washington (Rajeev Sharma): US President Donald Trump has issued a fresh warning to Iran, saying Tehran cannot be allowed to acquire a nuclear weapon and stressing that Washington remains prepared to take forceful action if necessary.
In his latest remarks on the escalating tensions in West Asia, Trump described Iran as a “failed nation” but made it clear that he did not view the country’s weakened position as a reason for the United States to step back.
Trump Highlights Strait of Hormuz
The US president also spoke about the security situation around the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important maritime routes for energy supplies.
Trump said the waterway was in “extremely good shape”, signalling that the US administration believes shipping through the strategic passage remains under control despite continuing tensions with Iran.
The comments come amid concerns over possible disruptions to commercial traffic in the region and the wider impact that any escalation could have on energy markets.
Nuclear Issue Remains Central
Trump’s strongest warning was directed at Iran’s nuclear ambitions. He said Iran cannot be permitted to possess a nuclear weapon, pointing to Israel’s security as a major reason for Washington’s position.
He argued that if Tehran were to obtain such a weapon, Israel could face a severe threat.
The issue of Iran’s nuclear capabilities has remained one of the central points of confrontation between Tehran and Washington, as well as a major concern for Israel and other countries in the region.
Tensions Continue in West Asia
