Washington (Rajeev Sharma): US President Donald Trump has portrayed his administration’s record as a sweeping turnaround for the country, claiming that the United States has moved from what he described as a period of decline into a “golden age” under his leadership.
Speaking about his administration’s achievements, Trump said American voters had given him a mandate to rescue the country and argued that he had fulfilled every major commitment made during the campaign.
Trump attacks Biden-era policies
Trump sharply criticised former President Joe Biden and Democrats, blaming their policies for what he described as severe economic and social problems in the United States.
According to Trump, the previous administration presided over exceptionally high inflation while American cities faced rising crime, poverty and disorder. He also accused the Democratic Party’s left wing of damaging the country’s global reputation.
Trump contrasted that period with his own administration, saying his policies had fundamentally changed the direction of the country in less than two years.
Focus on taxes, regulations and defence
Highlighting his administration’s economic agenda, Trump claimed that his government had delivered some of the largest tax reductions and regulatory cuts in US history.
He also pointed to increased spending and investment in the country’s armed forces as another major achievement. Trump said strengthening the military had helped reinforce America’s position as a global power.
The president further claimed that his administration had expanded America’s energy capabilities, describing the country as both an energy and military superpower.
Trump declares US global dominance
Trump presented the changes as part of a broader effort to restore American influence, arguing that the country had emerged stronger on the world stage.
“We are the superpower of the world,” Trump said, reinforcing his broader message that his administration’s economic, defence and energy policies were designed to consolidate US leadership globally.
His remarks reflect the central argument of Trump’s political messaging: that his administration has reversed what he considers years of economic weakness, regulatory overreach and declining American influence.
While Trump highlighted the achievements of his administration in sweeping terms, his assessment remains a political claim and is likely to face scrutiny from Democrats and independent analysts over the scale and impact of the policies he cited.
