Ludhiana (Gurpreet Singh): Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday dedicated two new ‘Schools of Eminence’ (SoE) at Kidwai Nagar and Miller Ganj to the public, taking the total count of such institutions in Ludhiana district to 16. Equipped with modern classrooms, advanced science laboratories, state-of-the-art auditoriums, and updated infrastructure, the new campuses are part of the state government’s ongoing push to elevate public education standards to global levels.
Speaking at the inauguration, Chief Minister Mann noted that Ludhiana, historically recognized for leading Punjab’s industrial sector, is now emerging as the hub of the state’s ongoing education revolution. He emphasized that the administration’s sustained investments—including international teacher training programs, improved infrastructure, smart classrooms, and transport facilities—have successfully bridged the quality gap between public and private schooling, restoring public faith in state-run education.
Reflecting on broader state metrics, Mann stated that Punjab has made significant strides in national education standings, climbing from 27th place in previous rankings to the top position across primary and middle school categories in recent NITI Aayog data. He added that academic achievements among government school students have surged concurrently, citing record numbers of clearances in competitive examinations such as NEET and JEE Main. The state government plans to continue expanding specialized educational frameworks, including Schools of Eminence, Schools of Brilliance, and Schools of Happiness, across all districts.
