Chandigarh Police ASI Apprehended by CBI in Sector 39 Bribery Operation

Chandigarh (Gurpreet Singh): An Assistant Sub-Inspector of the Chandigarh Police has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation in connection with a corruption case. The anti-corruption operation has triggered substantial concern within the regional law enforcement administration.

The apprehended official has been identified as Hitesh Kumar, who was actively deployed at the Sector 39 Police Station in Chandigarh.

According to investigative sources, the central agency initiated the trap operation following a formal complaint detailing that the officer had demanded financial kickbacks. Acting on the tip, a specialized CBI team carried out a localized raid and caught the Assistant Sub-Inspector red-handed while he was allegedly accepting the specified bribe amount from the complainant.

Following the successful sting operation, the agency formally registered a First Information Report and initiated a comprehensive criminal investigation. CBI investigators are currently conducting detailed interrogations and reviewing departmental logs to examine the specific circumstances surrounding the commission of the offence.

The high-profile arrest has caused a major stir within the hierarchy of the Chandigarh Police department, given that the incident involves a serving law enforcement official directly accused of systemic corruption.

CBI officials have temporarily withheld specific details regarding the exact amount of money recovered or the precise nature of the legal case connected to the complaint. Operational investigations remain underway, and further administrative details are expected to be disclosed as the evidentiary probe progresses.
