Ceasefire at Risk as Donald Trump Sets Deadline for Iran Deal

Donald Trump

Washington (Rajeev Sharma): Donald Trump has indicated that the fragile ceasefire with Iran may come to an end if a broader agreement is not reached within the next few days, raising concerns over a possible return to hostilities.

While speaking to journalists during his flight back to Washington, Trump made it clear that the continuation of the truce depends on progress in ongoing negotiations. He warned that failure to secure a lasting understanding by Wednesday could prompt the United States to reconsider its current stance.

Despite the temporary halt in fighting, Trump said economic and strategic pressure on Iran would persist, particularly through restrictions on its ports. He also hinted that military operations could resume if talks collapse, underscoring the uncertainty surrounding the situation.

In the same interaction, the US President referred to recent developments as encouraging, mentioning that there had been “positive updates” related to Iran. However, he chose not to disclose specifics, leaving room for speculation about possible diplomatic breakthroughs.

The ceasefire had brought a brief pause to weeks of intense confrontation that affected regional stability and global oil markets. With tensions still simmering, the next round of negotiations is being closely watched by the international community.

Analysts say the coming days will be decisive in determining whether the conflict moves toward de-escalation or slips back into a cycle of military action.
