New Delhi (Rajeev Sharma): A purported apology video of the girl booked for allegedly making objectionable remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a student protest has gone viral on social media, with the girl expressing remorse and requesting forgiveness from the nation.
In the video, the girl, dressed in a striped T-shirt, is seen with folded hands, saying she regrets her statements and wishes to apologise for her conduct. She claims that she made the comments after being influenced by people present at the protest.
“I made several inappropriate remarks against the Prime Minister after coming under the influence of others. I now realise my mistake and sincerely apologise,” she says in the clip.
The girl also claims she is 15 years old, despite reports stating that the FIR identifies the accused as 25 years old. Calling the incident the biggest mistake of her life, she says she is deeply ashamed of her actions and appeals for forgiveness.
“This is my first and last mistake. I feel ashamed of what I said and request the entire country to forgive me,” she states.
The authenticity of the viral video has not been independently verified.
The apology surfaced days after a complaint was filed against the girl over her alleged remarks made during a student demonstration. Acting on the complaint, Noida Police registered a Zero FIR, which was later transferred to the Parliament Street Police Station in New Delhi for further legal proceedings.
The complainant alleged that the remarks were derogatory towards the office of the Prime Minister and had the potential to create public unrest and social disharmony.
The video also emerged shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a public message responding to abusive slogans raised against him during the protests. Instead of calling for punitive action, the Prime Minister urged people to respond with compassion and guidance.
In his address, he said that abusive language has no place in a civilised society but described the individuals involved as “misguided youth” who should be shown the right path rather than being driven further away through anger or retaliation.
He appealed to society to forgive those who had erred, stressing that dialogue, understanding and guidance are more effective than punishment in helping young people learn from their mistakes.
The matter remains under investigation, while the apology video continues to generate widespread discussion across social media platforms.
