Gurugram (Gurpreet Singh) — Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini attended the broadcast of the 138th edition of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on Sunday during a special gathering organized in Gurugram. Held under the state’s Seva Sankalp Abhiyan initiative, the event served as a platform to felicitate promising sports talent from across the state who have secured laurels in wrestling, boxing, and martial arts at international and national sporting arenas.
Reinforcing the administration’s broader push towards ecological balance, the Chief Minister planted a sapling at the venue, calling on citizens across Haryana to plant more trees and actively contribute to environmental conservation efforts in their local neighbourhoods. He observed that youth leadership must balance athletic dedication with community and ecological service to build a resilient society.
During the ceremonial felicitation, Saini presented commendations to several medal-winning athletes for their distinguished competitive achievements. Among those recognized were Yug Boxer, who earned two international gold medals alongside an Asian gold in Thailand, and Nikita Sehrawat, who clinched a silver medal at the Under-17 World Wrestling Championship. Subodh Bhatt was commended for securing three gold and two bronze medals in international events, while Priya Yadav received recognition for an impressive international tally consisting of two gold, two silver, and four bronze medals.
Domestic and regional achievers were also prominently honoured for their competitive excellence. Nishant Dayma was lauded for winning one gold and two silver medals at national-level wrestling championships, Sachin for securing bronze at the National Junior Wrestling Championship, Srishti for her four-time medal record at the Senior World Championships, and Vivek Bhardwaj for claiming a bronze medal at the Global Grappling Series held in Istanbul, Turkey. Commending their tenacity and discipline, the Chief Minister extended his best wishes to the athletes for their upcoming tournaments and reaffirmed Haryana’s policy backing for sporting infrastructure and talent development.
The event witnessed the presence of key administrative and legislative leaders, including Haryana Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh, Sohna MLA Tejpal Tanwar, Pataudi MLA Bimla Chaudhary, and Gurugram MLA Mukesh Sharma. Chief Minister’s Advisor for the Foreign Cooperation Department Pawan Chaudhary, Gurugram Mayor Rajrani Malhotra, and former minister JP Dalal, among other senior officials, were also present to mark the occasion.
