Moga (Gurpreet Singh)— In a major late-night anti-corruption operation, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau apprehended Inspector Sunita Bawa, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Kot Ise Khan police station in Moga district, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000. The enforcement action was executed following a formal complaint lodged by a resident of Nurpur Hakima village, who alleged demands for illicit gratification in connection with police proceedings.
According to preliminary details surrounding the case, the vigilance team laid a calculated trap along the Zira Road corridor to intercept the illicit transaction. Official sources indicate that the complainant arrived at the designated rendezvous point to hand over the tainted currency, leading the vigilance operatives to close in and recover the alleged bribe sum. The operation subsequently extended to the officer’s residential premises, where the woman inspector was formally taken into custody.
The sudden enforcement blitz caused significant ripples within the local police administration across Dharamkot and Moga subdivisions.
