Suspected Gang Associate Shot in Leg During Police Encounter in Jamsherpur

Jalandhar (Gurpreet Singh): A man allegedly linked to the Doni Bal gang was injured after police opened fire in retaliation during an encounter near the dairy complex in Jamsherpur, officials said.
The suspect, identified as Sukhjinder alias Prince of Tarn Taran, was taken by the police to the area as part of a weapon-recovery operation. Investigators had reportedly traced him after surveillance camera footage indicated his alleged involvement in preparations for a criminal incident.
Police said Sukhjinder attempted to escape during the recovery proceedings and allegedly fired at the police team. The personnel responded with gunfire, resulting in the suspect being hit in the leg.
He was subsequently taken to the Civil Hospital for treatment. His condition was not immediately specified.
A pistol was recovered from the suspect, while a spent cartridge was also found at the encounter site. Police said their investigation has established his alleged association with the Doni Bal gang.
According to a police officer, three rounds were fired during the encounter. Authorities are now investigating the suspect’s alleged role in other criminal activities and are also examining the circumstances that led to the confrontation.
