Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has directed officials to accelerate construction of the Integrated Manufacturing Cluster adjacent to Hisar Airport, underscoring that timely execution will stimulate regional economic activity and elevate development across western Haryana. Chairing a high-level review meeting in Chandigarh on Thursday to assess major development undertakings valued above ₹75 crore on the State Pragati Portal, the Chief Minister scrutinized 11 critical projects spanning civil aviation, energy, and the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation. Saini emphasized that large-scale infrastructure forms the foundation of state economic progress, instructing administrative heads to eliminate bureaucratic bottlenecks and strictly adhere to established deadlines.
During the session, the Chief Minister conducted an exhaustive assessment of Phase II of the Swarna Jayanti Integrated Aviation Hub in Hisar. Officials briefed the meeting on civil infrastructure progress, covering new terminal facilities, air traffic control towers, water distribution networks, and stormwater drainage systems. Saini directed aviation authorities to examine routes to increase regional flight frequency, instructing them to expand connecting flight options for passengers across the country while establishing dedicated maintenance, repair, and overhaul operations at the hub. In tandem with the airport, the surrounding 1,578-acre Integrated Manufacturing Cluster has acquired full land ownership and mandatory environmental clearances, with construction tenders entering final evaluation stages. Saini instructed planners to preserve space for defence corridors, aerospace development, and medical manufacturing within the industrial layout.
The review also addressed key transmission and power generation assets managed by the Department of Energy. Energy Secretary Ashima Brar reported that 11-kilovolt feeder renovation works under Gurugram’s Smart City programme have reached 93 per cent and 79 per cent completion across two phases, with targets set for July and November 2027. Work under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme in Yamunanagar’s Jagadhri division, previously delayed by forestry permits and standing crops, is proceeding toward a December 2026 completion date. Additionally, the construction of the ₹7,272-crore 800-megawatt ultra-supercritical thermal power unit at Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant in Yamunanagar remains on track for operational readiness by December 2029.
Agricultural power infrastructure across northern districts featured prominently in the deliberations. Officials indicated that 86 per cent of loss reduction works in Rewari and 95 per cent of substation upgradation works at Sadhaura are complete, targeting commissioning by November 30, 2026. In the farm sector, the installation of 4,717 agricultural H-poles and transformers in Kurukshetra has reached 57 per cent completion with a revised deadline of March 2027, while a similar initiative involving 2,847 units in Kaithal stands at 72 per cent completion, targeting delivery by December 2026. Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi, along with senior administrative secretaries, attended the session as Saini reiterated that administrative delays will not be accommodated on major public works.
