Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini launched a fierce political counter-offensive against the opposition on Thursday, rebuking Congress leaders for wearing black clothes in the legislative assembly and reminding them that voters have not forgotten their track record. Speaking to journalists at Haryana Niwas in Chandigarh, the Chief Minister remarked that although the opposition seeks political relevance through symbolic demonstrations, the public continues to recall decades marked by bureaucratic delays, corruption, and systemic hardship. Saini advised rival parties across Haryana and Punjab, specifically the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party, to scrutinize their own past and present conduct before raising questions about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration.
Saini contended that previous administrations operated on empty rhetoric, distributing what he characterized as political candies ahead of elections before shelving commitments for five years. He highlighted that over the past twelve years, the double engine governance model led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi transformed service delivery by bypassing intermediate channels and crediting welfare allocations straight to eligible recipients. He challenged senior Congress figures, including Bhupinder Singh Hooda, to provide a factual accounting of public services during their tenure, noting that citizens routinely endured long queues for domestic cooking cylinders and elderly citizens were forced to bribe intermediaries simply to process basic pensions.
Highlighting ongoing social initiatives, the Chief Minister pointed out that the Deen Dayal Lado Laxmi Yojana now delivers direct economic support of ₹2,100 per month into the bank accounts of women across the state. Saini noted that while coverage initially focused on households with an annual income up to ₹1,00,000, registrations will expand to encompass families earning up to ₹1,80,000 annually starting on Seva Diwas, September 17. He contrasted this automatic, proactive administrative framework with earlier eras, reiterating that social pensions and cylinder subsidies under the Ujjwala program now reach beneficiaries without administrative friction.
Addressing regional concerns, Saini criticized the Punjab administration’s management of substance abuse issues, claiming that the neighboring government has fallen short of containing the drug crisis. In contrast, he stated that Haryana is actively mobilizing youth through sports and education to build a drug-free society. Regarding municipal strikes, the Chief Minister assured that the Valmiki community remains an integral part of the state family, urging workers not to be misled by opposition factions orchestrating photo opportunities at sanctioned development sites. He added that an increasing number of prominent Punjab citizens are moving toward the Bharatiya Janata Party, seeking the development-oriented governance currently visible across Haryana.
