Uttar Pradesh (Rajeev Sharma): The investigation into the murder of Haryanvi singer Ankit Baliyan took a major turn after two men suspected of being involved in the shooting were killed in an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh Police Special Task Force (STF), officials said.
The two men have been identified as Sumit and Mohit. Police believe they were among the four shooters allegedly involved in the attack on Baliyan.
The encounter is being viewed as a key development in the case as investigators continue to piece together the events surrounding the singer’s killing and track down the remaining people allegedly linked to the crime.
Six suspects allegedly linked to case
The investigation has so far brought six individuals under the scanner, according to officials familiar with the probe.
Of the six, four are suspected of having directly carried out the attack, while the remaining two allegedly played a reconnaissance role before the murder. Their suspected task was to gather information about the target and the circumstances surrounding the planned attack.
With Sumit and Mohit killed, police are now expected to intensify efforts to establish the roles of the other suspects and uncover the planning behind the incident.
Investigators are also examining the links between the alleged shooters and those accused of conducting reconnaissance in an attempt to determine whether others were involved in facilitating the murder.
The probe remains underway as authorities work to establish the complete sequence of events and identify the wider network allegedly connected to Baliyan’s killing.
