Calgary (Rajeev Sharma): Calgary Police Service is investigating two separate shootings in the northeast Calgary community of Cornerstone, including a fatal shooting early Sunday morning and another shooting Saturday night that left one man injured.
The first incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of Cornerstone Road N.E. Police said a man inside a vehicle was shot by a person in a second vehicle. The victim was transported to hospital in serious condition, which was later upgraded to stable. Police said three individuals who were in one of the vehicles fled the scene. A red sports car found on the street had at least one visible bullet hole. Investigators believe the shooting was targeted.


A second, fatal shooting was reported shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of Cornerstone Boulevard N.E. Officers responded to reports of shots fired and found a man deceased at the scene.
The Calgary Police Service homicide unit has taken over the investigation into the fatal shooting. Police believe it was also targeted, but no arrests have been made.
Investigators are continuing to gather evidence and are asking anyone with information, surveillance footage or dashcam video from the area to come forward.
