Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana on Tuesday directed officials to treat public grievances seriously and ensure their resolution within the stipulated timeframe. He said complaints concerning citizens should not be allowed to remain pending unnecessarily.
Rana issued the directions while chairing a meeting of the District Public Grievances Committee at the Mini Secretariat in Kaithal. A total of 13 complaints were taken up during the meeting, of which nine were resolved on the spot, while officials were directed to take necessary action in the remaining cases.
Probe Ordered Into Alleged Negligence During Woman’s Surgery
One of the complaints involved allegations of negligence in the surgery of a woman at Kansal Hospital. Taking note of the matter, Rana directed officials to constitute a medical negligence board to conduct an impartial investigation.
The complaint has been kept pending for the next meeting until the findings of the inquiry are available.
In another case involving allegations that a false electricity theft case had been registered, the minister ordered the formation of an inquiry committee and directed it to submit its report at the next meeting.
Minister Reviews Pending Complaints
The committee also reviewed complaints taken up during previous meetings. In a case concerning an alleged murderous attack in Mundri village, officials informed the minister that five accused had been arrested and a Look Out Circular (LOC) had been issued against another accused who is reportedly abroad. Rana directed police officials to carry out a thorough investigation.
A complaint filed by Karmbir, a resident of Pai village, was resolved after he was provided Rs 82,000 in pending wages for three months.
The minister also reviewed a complaint regarding cleanliness and waterlogging in the green belt and park area of Sector 19 in Kaithal and directed the authorities concerned to ensure proper sanitation.
Student Gets Admission After Minister’s Intervention
Another case concerned a student who was allegedly prevented from appearing in an examination and was not issued a School Leaving Certificate due to financial difficulties.
Following the minister’s directions and in accordance with Education Department rules, the school facilitated the student’s admission to the next class.
Rana reiterated that addressing public grievances is a key responsibility of the administration and directed officers to resolve complaints on priority instead of allowing them to remain pending for extended periods.
Directions Issued On Drainage, Sports Certificate Cases
In a complaint regarding obstruction of an irrigation channel, the Irrigation Department was directed to conduct demarcation after the paddy harvest and restore the flow of water.
Officials were also asked to rectify the level of a PWD-constructed drain after a complaint that rainwater was entering a house due to blocked drainage.
The minister further directed officials to resolve within a week an issue concerning the gradation certificate of a state gold medal-winning handball player. Instructions were also issued regarding applications for the Happy Card scheme once the portal opens and the transfer of assistance under the Haryana Parivar Suraksha Yojana to an eligible beneficiary’s bank account.
