Haryana Govt Announces Free Bus Travel For Women On Raksha Bandhan; Children Up To 15 Years Also Covered

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): The Haryana government has announced free travel for women on Haryana Roadways buses on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. Children up to the age of 15 travelling with women will also be allowed to use the service without paying a fare.

The special facility will remain available from 12 noon on August 27 until midnight on August 28, allowing women to travel across the state to celebrate the festival with their families.

Free Haryana Roadways Travel From August 27 To 28

According to a government spokesperson, women will be able to travel free of cost in ordinary buses operated by Haryana State Transport during the specified period.

The facility will be applicable for journeys from one destination to another within Haryana. Travel to Delhi and Chandigarh will also be covered under the scheme.

Children aged up to 15 years accompanying women passengers will also be eligible for free travel during the period.

The government has been extending the free bus travel facility to women during Raksha Bandhan in previous years as well.

Haryana Roadways Asked To Ensure Adequate Buses

Officials at the state and district levels have been directed to make necessary arrangements to handle the expected increase in passenger traffic during the festival.

District general managers have been asked to ensure smooth operation of buses and adequate availability of services so that passengers do not face inconvenience.

The transport authorities have also been instructed to make arrangements at bus stands in advance, particularly at locations expected to witness higher passenger footfall.

Police Personnel To Be Deployed At Bus Stands

Transport employees in uniform will be stationed at bus stands to guide women passengers and help them identify the appropriate buses for their destinations.

The government has also directed authorities to deploy adequate police personnel at bus stands as part of security arrangements during the festive rush.

Extending greetings to women across Haryana on Raksha Bandhan, the government said the initiative is aimed at making it easier for women and their children to travel and celebrate the festival with their families.
