Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini inaugurated the Regional Centre for Skill Development (RCSD) at Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology (DCRUST) in Murthal, Sonipat. Emphasizing that skill development forms the cornerstone of a bright future for the youth, the Chief Minister noted that the facility will directly bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements. During the event, Saini conferred Excellence Awards on distinguished scholars and faculty members, inspected the newly established commercial vehicle technology laboratory, and interacted with students.
Highlighting the vision of peasant leader Sir Chhotu Ram, the Chief Minister urged students to adopt three key resolves: commit to lifelong learning, build strong moral character alongside professional skills, and contribute back to society. He commended the collaborative initiative between the university and VE Commercial Vehicles Limited—a joint venture of the Volvo Group and Eicher Motors—praising it as a vital link between industry and academia. Saini stated that as the automotive sector evolves toward mechatronics and data-driven diagnostics, the state’s youth must actively lead technological transformations rather than remaining passive observers.
Addressing the gathering, Haryana Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda highlighted the significance of the RCSD lab in providing hands-on training for advanced systems, electric vehicles, connected mobility, and artificial intelligence. Students undergoing training will receive globally recognized certifications, significantly enhancing their employability in domestic and international markets. Dhanda noted that such industry-aligned initiatives ensure students acquire practical competencies beyond their academic degrees.
The Chief Minister also outlined broader state measures aimed at youth empowerment and employment, including the establishment of Shri Vishwakarma Skill University in Palwal and the modernization of 60 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) at a cost of approximately Rs 3,000 crore. He noted that over 1,56,000 candidates have received industry-aligned training so far, while Haryana’s startup policies have facilitated the creation of over 10,000 youth-led ventures, fostering an environment where young professionals can become job creators rather than job seekers.
